Christine Cavanagh concentrates her practice in the related areas of Estate Planning and Elder Law. Personal experiences with her own family compelled her to study and practice in this important area of law, so that she may assist others as they try to navigate the complex set of issues that arise as a natural byproduct of aging.

As an Estate planning attorney, Christine uses a holistic approach to craft an estate plan that is tailored to each individual. She counsels her clients regarding different options for estate planning and asset protection planning based on each client’s particular family dynamics, asset and income structure, health status, as well as individual priorities and concerns. Additionally, Christine is adept at offering compassionate advice and counsel regarding probate and administration proceedings following the death of a loved one, and has successfully handled a multitude of these proceedings in several different counties in New York State.

As an Elder Law attorney, she assists her clients with Medicaid eligibility planning, the Medicaid application process for both Community and Nursing Home Medicaid benefits, and crisis planning to help families manage unforeseen circumstances which lead to the sudden and unexpected need to apply for Medicaid benefits.

Christine is a member of the Elder Law and Trusts and Estates Sections of the New York State Bar Association. She received her law degree, cum laude, from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. During her time at law school, she received the American Bar Association Health Law Section and Bloomberg BNA award for Excellence in the Study of Health Law, the CALI Excellence for the Future award for the study of Professional Responsibility, and the CALI Excellence for the Future award for the study of Law, Medicine, and Ethics. She completed her undergraduate work at State University College at Oneonta.
